Expert: Samsung to lose Russian buyers if issue with phones stays

MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russians will stop using smartphones by South Korean producer Samsung if the problem with their activation in the country remains, news and research agency TelecomDaily General Director Denis Kuskov told PRIME on Friday.

“Evidently, it will hit sales if Samsung does not produce special batches of smartphones for sale in Russia, that means it will remove the issue (that the phones cannot be used in Russia), then people will certainly stop using Samsung in Russia because they should be readjusted. The matter of guarantees is also unclear, it’s problematic,” Kuskov said.

Media reported earlier that some smartphones by Samsung supplied to the country under parallel import do not switch on in Russia.

Kuskov said that the main problem for the telecom market is that the equipment purchased in unofficial supplies for Russia can malfunction at the operators.
